Terms of Use
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. The service
Time Debt is an iOS application that helps you set screen-time rules and applies them through Apple's Screen Time system. It is a self-management and family-management tool. It does not guarantee behavior change, and outcomes depend on how you use it.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Time Debt on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your download and use of the app.
3. Free plan
The free tier includes one full plan with enforcement, borrowing and repayment, bedtime borrowing rules and reminders, core focus sessions, seven days of history and emergency access. We may improve the free tier over time; we will not remove core free functionality you rely on without notice.
4. Subscriptions
- Individual Pro and Family Pro are auto-renewing subscriptions billed to your Apple Account through the App Store.
- Prices are shown in your local currency in the app before purchase. Reference prices on this site are in U.S. dollars; the App Store always displays your exact local price before you confirm.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Introductory offers (such as a free trial or a discounted first year) follow Apple's eligibility rules, and the renewal price is always displayed with the offer.
- Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. If your subscription ends
Time Debt fails safe. When a subscription expires or is cancelled: your data remains on your device; the core free-plan experience remains available; and no shield or lock persists that you cannot remove. The app never uses lockouts, data hostage-taking or degraded safety features to force renewal.
6. Emergency access
Emergency access removes the app's shields until the next day and is always available free of charge. However, Time Debt is not a substitute for judgment in genuine emergencies: iOS always allows emergency calls regardless of any app, and you should not rely on any third-party app's behavior in a life-critical situation.
7. Families
Family features are configured and controlled by a parent or guardian on devices they own or manage. The guardian is responsible for choosing appropriate rules for their family and for complying with applicable law in their jurisdiction. Family features operate on-device and do not provide remote monitoring.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, resell or misuse the app, interfere with its security features, or use it to restrict a device you have no right to manage.
9. Not medical advice
Time Debt is a productivity and family-wellbeing tool. It is not a medical device and provides no medical, psychological or therapeutic advice. If screen use is causing serious distress, consult a qualified professional.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights.
11. Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence.
